The Portlandia Mermaid Parade brought out an eclectic pod of Mersonas🧜‍♀️ “Here, individuality is a treasure, and diversity is our strength,” said one of the parade organizers ahead of the magical processions parallel to the Willamette River. “May we embrace the magic of the waters, honor our unique stories, and remember that the world’s greatest beauty is often found in the places and people willing to rise from the depths to be seen.” Dozens of participants dressed as eels, lantern fish, pirates, crabs, mermaids, sea turtles and more. The opening ceremony took place at the Japanese Historical Plaza, and proceeded to Poets Beach. Guests were invited to share wishes inside sea shells as a parting gift. 🎥 Andrew Harlan #portland #mermaidparade #mermaid #pdx
