Portland city councilors passed a supplemental budget Wednesday that will save 30 jobs and preserve public safety services at the city that were slated to be cut in the mayor's 2026-27 budget. It was one of two competing budget ordinances under consideration.
The meeting saw the mayor cast his first tie-breaking vote. It also came with unexpected compromises and snarky jabs with deeper subtext surrounding the mayor's role at City Hall.
