Chinese mathematician Deng Yu was one of the four recipients of the 2026 Fields Medal, widely regarded as the "Nobel Prize of Mathematics."⁣ ⁣ Alongside Wang Hong, he also became one of the first Chinese mathematicians to receive the prestigious award.⁣ ⁣ Deng entered Peking University's School of Mathematical Sciences in 2007, and later obtained his PhD from Princeton University in 2015 and currently serves as a professor of mathematics at the University of Chicago. ⁣ ⁣ He was awarded the Fields Medal for settling the narrow formulation of Hilbert's Sixth Problem, while Wang was rewarded for resolving the three-dimensional Kakeya conjecture.⁣ ⁣ #China #mathematics #FieldsMedal #science
