The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a short-term funding measure aimed at preventing a government shutdown before the end of the fiscal year.
The Republican-backed bill would keep federal agencies funded through December 4 and now heads to the Senate, where lawmakers are negotiating their own stopgap spending plan.
Without congressional action, funding for most federal government programs is set to expire on September 30, the end of the current fiscal year.
