The Louvre’s historic Apollo Gallery has reopened to visitors, but without its famed crown jewels, nine months after a brazen robbery exposed major security shortcomings at the world’s most-visited museum.⁣ ⁣ The jewels, valued at around $102 million, are being moved to a more secure location within the Paris museum following last October’s daylight heist, during which thieves allegedly smashed display cases and escaped in less than seven minutes.⁣ ⁣ While visitors can once again admire the gallery’s ornate 17th-century interiors, the theft continues to cast a shadow over the Louvre. Several suspects have been charged, but most of the stolen jewels remain missing.⁣ ⁣ #Louvre #Paris #France #Museum #Art #History
