🐐 A different kind of crew is helping reduce wildfire risk.   Targeted grazing is one of many wildfire prevention and fuel reduction tools used across California. By grazing on dry grass, brush, and other vegetation, these furry animals help reduce combustible fuel loads and remove ladder fuels that can carry fire from the ground into tree canopies. While every landscape requires a different approach, targeted grazing is a sustainable, cost-effective way to complement other fuel reduction efforts and help build more wildfire-resilient communities. The project featured in this video was supported through a CAL FIRE Wildfire Prevention Grant, helping local partners reduce wildfire risk. Across California, communities are using prevention strategies like this to create healthier and wildfire-resilient landscapes. Wildfire prevention is a year-round effort.
