Yesterday, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle welcomed Yokosuka Mayor Katsuaki Kamiji to the Pentagon. Their meeting reaffirmed the enduring friendship between the United States and Japan and the vital relationship between our nations and our navies. The City of Yokosuka has long been an important home to forward-deployed U.S. Navy Sailors and their families, and we remain grateful for its steadfast partnership and hospitality. As Mayor Kamiji returns home, his nation is recovering from a powerful earthquake in southern Japan.
