Just quillin' 🦔🧡 Announcing the arrival of a spike-tacular female porcupette, born to mom Gracie and dad Picante in June. Prehensile-tailed porcupines are born with bright reddish-orange hair to provide camouflage and protection for their soft quills. As the baby grows, they'll shed the hair to reveal spiny black and white quills. This curious cutie is spending her time behind-the-scenes, but will join her mom as a wildlife ambassador and may be spotted occasionally at Wildlife Explorers Basecamp and Animals in Action at the San Diego Zoo. #porcupette #sandiegozoo
