I lost one of my best friends. Suddenly. I’m in shock, honestly. I’m dreaming. A living nightmare. I’m sad, angry, confused, and dazed all at the same time. Jalyn was more than special. She was one of one. If you met her, she was the best person you ever met. The irony, Jalyn had the purest of hearts. In her short time, she accomplished just so much, touched so many lives, and broke into so many spaces. Collegiate host. Podcast star. ESPN sideline reporter. From OKC to the Final Four, she did it. All with that signature smile. She dreamed big, and encouraged her friends to do the same. She would one day run ESPN, and I’d be an athletic director, back at Mizzou if she had anything to say about it lol. That was what we were chasing, keeping each other on track. We talked about that future often. It’s hard to put into words everything I’ll miss. I’ll miss her answering every FaceTime with ‘hi friend’ and ending it with ‘love you’.
