Under the direction of faculty member Dr. Sandra Citty, who led a clinical demonstration project at the Gainesville VA Medical Center this summer, #GatoRNurse BSN students Aaron Sampson and Emma Meade helped improve cognitive/behavioral resources and education for VA nursing staff on inpatient units at the Gainesville VAMC. As part of the project, the students created an art station and assembled a keyboard piano and checker/chess table to promote cognitive stimulation, social interaction and meaningful engagement. They also enhanced resources available to veterans, caregivers and nursing staff by adding books, magazines, memory games, card games, writing supplies and other therapeutic activities. The project demonstrates the power of collaborative, nurse-led innovation and highlights the meaningful contributions students can make to improving patient experiences and supporting the health and well-being of veterans. #CareLeadInspireBoldly
