Christopher Nolan created the famous hidden mirror sequence in Inception by combining practical cinematography with invisible visual effects. A large real mirror was built and placed in the Paris street so the actors could interact with genuine reflections and natural lighting. Because the mirror also reflected the camera and crew, visual effects artists digitally removed them and replaced much of the reflected background with computer generated imagery that matched the real location. By preserving the mirror's subtle imperfections and blending practical footage with digital enhancements, the final shot feels convincing and grounded in reality while remaining almost impossible to detect as a visual effects sequence. I couldn't replicate the same, so I did what I could do best. This post is for my love for cinematography and Inception.
