Nearly 30 years after its founding by a Nebraska native, Cheba Hut has finally opened its first location in the Cornhusker State. The Colorado-based toasted sub chain officially opens Thursday in Lincoln's Telegraph District, bringing its signature sandwiches and laid-back atmosphere to Nebraska for the first time. The restaurant is franchise-owned by Andrea and Aaron Remaklus, who said the idea of opening a Cheba Hut in Nebraska began as a dream years ago after becoming fans of the brand. "We love Cheba Hut, and we don't have one in Nebraska," Andrea Remaklus said. "I can't drive eight hours to Colorado to get my Cheba Hut fix." The opening also represents a homecoming for Cheba Hut founder Scott Jennings, who grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, before launching his first restaurant in Tempe, Arizona, while in college at ASU.
