In 1996, Arizona State pulled off one of the greatest defensive performances in the history of College Football. The Sun Devils hosted #1 Nebraska, who was on a 26-game win streak with back-to-back undefeated National Championship seasons… and shut them out 19-0. Arizona State’s defense forced THREE SAFETIES, with one in first quarter, one in the second quarter, and one in the fourth quarter. The craziest part is that, outside of their 19-0 defeat to ASU, Nebraska’s offense was literally one of the best in the country that year and averaged 46.1 POINTS PER GAME in their other 12 games.
