1867: 21 skaters fell through Regent’s Park ice and survived. The next day, 500 came back anyway. At 3:30pm the ice split everywhere at once — 200 people in water up to 12 feet deep. 40 people died. Afterward, they cut the lake’s depth to four feet. #BritishHistory #UKHistory #VictorianHistory
