The defense team in the Alex Murdaugh trial has moved for an Independent Laboratory Review of DNA evidence before any SLED retesting. The court memo says that the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division previously identified DNA belonging to another, unrelated male, but did not determine who that DNA belonged to. The DNA evidence in question was found underneath a fingernail on Maggie Murdaugh's left hand the night she was murdered.
