The oldest surviving copy of Homer’s Odyssey in book form is currently on display in Manchester. The 1,700 year old parchment manuscript was copied by hand in Egypt in the 3rd century CE, right as readers were beginning to move from scrolls to bound pages. You can still see ruled lines, worn pages, and corrections in darker ink made by a second ancient reader.
