The light is beginning to shine again as the Hillsboro Hops dug out needed win on July 23rd in the midst of a series of losses at the start of the second half of the season. The Hops pulled off a convincing 8-5 victory over the Vancouver Canadians at Hillsboro Hops Ballpark, highlighted by a José Mejía three run homer in the eight inning to break a 5-5 tie. The Canadians jumped out to an early lead with two runs each in the first and second innings. The Hops were able to score a run in the first when Slade Caldwell was brought home on a Carlos Virahonda double. In the third J.D. Dix doubled for a two run RBI scoring José Mejía and Kayson Cunningham. The Hops tied the game in the fourth after a José Mejía scored Diosfran Cabeza. In the sixth the Canadians pulled a run ahead, but the Hops countered to tie the game back up when Avery Owusu-Asiedu singled to score Brady Counsell.
