Art and activism colliding on paperšļø
Graphic artist and self-described āartivistā Orlando Smith is bringing a new kind of American Gothic to SFMOMA in āO. Smith: Artivistā in this gallery presentation of his small but extraordinarily detailed works on paper.
Smith, who is currently incarcerated at San Quentin prison, began drawing more than forty years ago. With his deep belief in the humanity of all people, Smithās work highlights the criminal legal system to indict abuses of power in the United States and around the globe. His drawings righteously, loudly, and fearlessly confronts injustice while crying out for universal civil rights.
