The tiny 2.25-point white text contained instructions telling the AI résumé screener to advance the applicant, while also directing the system to conceal the prompt itself. What appeared to be a normal résumé was actually an attempt to manipulate an automated hiring process. A 2026 study analyzing approximately 200,000 real-world résumés found that hidden prompt injections appeared in about 1% of applications, with the practice becoming more common over time.
