Reposted from ramsesjedeloo Today, something happened that most people will never think twice about: For the very first time in his life, our 12-year-old son Maddox ordered straight from the menu. Living with severe, life-threatening food allergies (anaphylaxis) means that something as ordinary as grabbing lunch or going out for dinner simply isn’t part of your life. While other families make memories in restaurants, we’ve always brought our own food. Every meal has been planned, prepared and checked. Every ingredient matters. Even here in the US, we’ve been cooking in our apartment using food we brought all the way from the Netherlands. So watching him stand there, look at a menu, and simply choose what he wanted - just like every other kid - was one of those moments that quietly hits you. Something so ordinary for almost everyone else… yet something he had never experienced in twelve years. As his dad, my heart couldn’t have been happier to...
