Portland could soon see new restrictions on where drivers can turn right on red lights. The City Council next week is slated to consider an ordinance outlawing red-light turns on certain high-crash streets, part of the city’s effort to reduce traffic deaths. The law would require the Portland Bureau of Transportation to evaluate traffic lights located on the city’s network of high-crash streets, which make up 8% of city streets but record 62% of all crashes, according to the city.
