We’ve been looking for an excuse to print this cut for a video for a while now. On August 1, 1933, the National Recovery Administration (NRA) established the "blanket code" to combat unemployment and help stabilize the economy at the height of the Great Depression. Some policies included set minimum wages, maximum hours for the workweek, and banning the employment of children under 16 years old in manufacturing jobs. Businesses that signed the agreement and were in compliance could display a poster of the NRA Blue Eagle, which included the slogan "We Do Our Part." We just happened to have an electrotype in our print shop at the Sacramento History Museum of that eagle. For today, Howard letterpress printed a cut of the logo for the NRA. This was printed in blue rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852. #SacHistoryMuseum #nra #onthisday #museumtok #printing
