Opportunists don’t target gullible women. They target generous ones. The woman who assumes the best, who gives the benefit of the doubt, who would rather be taken advantage of than accuse someone unfairly. That kindness is exactly what’s being counted on. And the pattern always shows itself eventually. It repeats, and then you’re caught, and the women you used start comparing notes. If someone has been treating your generosity like an open bar, you’re allowed to stop pouring. Being kind never obligated you to keep handing access to a person who’s been doing nothing but taking.
