Two Arizona homes burned to the ground in one week, and in both cases crews were working without a hydrant nearby. The most recent came Friday morning in Peoria. Rural Metro, Peoria, Glendale and Phoenix crews were called near 83rd Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road shortly after 5:30 a.m. The property sits on a county island, and Rural Metro’s Shawn Gilleland says some of those pockets don’t have hydrants, so crews have to find one close enough to tap and pull water in. The call was upgraded to a working first alarm to bring more resources. The house and the cars and trailer next to it are a total loss. Four days earlier, Daisy Mountain crews arrived at a fully involved house near Central Avenue and Honda Bow Road in New River just before 5 a.m. Capt.
