Mesa police pulled up to a car sitting inside a law office. The driver was 13 and her dad was in the passenger seat. It happened around 9 on a Friday night last December near Dobson and Baseline. A car left the road and went straight into the My Arizona Lawyers office. When officers figured out who had been driving, it was a 13-year-old girl. Her father, 37-year-old Joey Kristopher Jansen, was riding shotgun. Police say he let her drive. He was booked on endangerment and criminal damage. Neither of them was hurt and nobody was inside the building. The office puts the cleanup and repairs at about $25,000 and it’s home to several firms. One of the attorneys there practices family law. She said her first thought walking into the wreckage was that she hoped the girl’s mom had a good lawyer, and that she felt sad for the kid.
