An Arizona man called 911 over $50 his roommate took for the electric bill. He was already covered in blood when he dialed.
April 30, an apartment near 24th Avenue and Hazelwood in west Phoenix. The 76-year-old made the call himself. Dispatchers could hear a man in the background asking if he was calling the police.
Officers arrived and found him bleeding with his face caved in. He told them he brought up the missing $50 and his 31-year-old roommate punched him, then hit him over and over with a white construction helmet. Doctors found a crushed face and bleeding around his brain. He spent 10 weeks moving between care facilities and died July 11.
Police found the hard hat outside the complex the next day. Troy Yazzie was already gone.
He ran to Flagstaff to live with his mother. What he apparently forgot is that he was on probation in Coconino County, so detectives just called his probation officer. Flagstaff PD and Phoenix PD picked him up Tuesday morning.
