Phoenix Fire hoisted a man off the top of Mummy Mountain this morning. He drew Ariel, Aladdin, the Beast and Tarzan.
Glen Keane, 72, spent 38 years at Walt Disney Animation and got named a Disney Legend in 2013. In 2018 he won the Oscar for Best Animated Short with Kobe Bryant for “Dear Basketball.”
The part nobody outside the Valley knows is that he’s a Paradise Valley kid. His family moved there when he was five, his dad was Bil Keane who drew The Family Circus, and he climbed Mummy Mountain as a teenager.
He lives in France now and came back with his kids and grandkids so they could climb it too. He got to the top and that was it. He was alert the whole time and got evaluated after landing. No firefighters were hurt.
