A father and his 16-year-old son spent five hours stranded in the Arizona desert after their rented Jeep Wrangler became high-centered on a remote off-road trail.
With temperatures reaching 114 degrees, they eventually ran out of drinking water and made the decision to hike through the desert in search of cell service. After walking for miles in the extreme heat, they were finally able to call 911 and were safely rescued.
Officials say the incident is a reminder to never explore remote desert trails without extra water, emergency supplies, and another vehicle.
