He made the 911 call, but police say surveillance video from next door told a different story. Kyle Collins, 37, called authorities shortly after 11 a.m. on July 21 and claimed he had returned to his downtown Mesa apartment to find his girlfriend, 36-year-old Cierra Tellez, unresponsive. He told dispatchers he was performing CPR while waiting for help, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Collins allegedly told investigators he had been at work all morning and that Tellez was fine when he left. A newly released probable cause statement says neighboring surveillance footage showed him entering and leaving the apartment during the same hours he claimed to be gone. His employer also confirmed he never showed up for work. Detectives reported finding blood in three rooms and a broken metal cane they believe was used during the incident.
