July 31st is National Mutt Day! This day encourages people to embrace, save, and celebrate mixed breed dogs. For today, Jared letterpress printed a small electrotype (copy of a woodcut) from the Lewis Winter Collection. This cut depicts what would be a stereotype of a junkyard dog being very protective over a bone. Lewis Winter designed this cut sometime in the 1890s. This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852. #NationalMuttDay #dogs #SacHistoryMuseum #museum #printing
