✨ Do Silicone Breast Implants Need Routine Imaging?
Yes. Even when silicone breast implants feel completely normal, regular imaging is still important because an implant rupture may occur without pain or visible changes.
📌 According to current FDA recommendations, the first ultrasound or MRI is generally advised 5–6 years after surgery, followed by repeat imaging every 2–3 years.
Ultrasound can be used for routine screening in patients without symptoms. If symptoms are present or the ultrasound result is unclear, an MRI may be recommended.
💡 Implant imaging and breast cancer screening are two separate evaluations. One does not replace the other.
