For Abi, it feels like yesterday when she learned her younger daughter, Simone, would be born with cystic fibrosis (CF). And in some ways, she says it feels like a generation ago when Abi’s older daughter, Meryl, was diagnosed with CF. Meryl is 8 now, and CF care has grown about as much as her in that time. Meryl faced challenges early on, including a bowel blockage, surgery and a three-month NICU stay. But Simone’s experience was quite different. Between Abi's pregnancies, CF care had advanced significantly. Most notably, the FDA approved Trikafta, a drug that restores function to the malfunctioning protein that causes CF.
