During one of her first spine surgeries years ago, Nora received a teddy bear from her care team that included its own X-rays and a rod in its back just like what she was about to get. “They don’t make them anymore,” says Nora. “So, I wanted to make them because I had them. I just wanted other kids to have that experience too.” Now 11, on the day before her most recent scoliosis surgery, Nora delivered her own handmade bears with casts, braces and rods to give comfort to other kids like her going through spine treatments. “I have known Nora since she was a baby and she’s never let scoliosis stop her from doing anything,” says Dr. Sumeet Garg, Nora’s orthopedic surgeon. “She has always been thoughtful of how she can help support children going through scoliosis treatment.” Thanks to Nora, kids will once again have a cuddly buddy to see them through surgery and recovery. #HereItsDifferent #ScoliosisAwarenessMonth #scoliosis #SpineSurgery #ScoliosisAwareness #ScoliosisSurgery
