Original Intent or Modern? Open concept vs. closed floor plan: which do you choose? The fireplace was the only heat source, and of course at night a hot water bottle tucked at your side. Funny that I restore old homes as I lived in New Zealand for 10’ish years and they still live like that. Electric heat now of course in NZ, but they only turn on the heat in the main living room. I remember complaining to a friend, why is it so cold in the bathroom or hallway etc …. It was an adjustment :) and I ran back to NYC … Yes for the heat.
