Around 60,000 people crossed into Spain’s North African enclave of Ceuta in one of the largest migration crises the European Union has faced, leaving many migrants stranded without food or shelter. CGTN correspondent Ken Browne reports from Ceuta, where hundreds of people were still sleeping rough on beaches and streets days after the mass arrivals from Morocco. Spanish authorities said tens of thousands had already returned, but many remained in difficult conditions, with some migrants saying they had no access to basic supplies. The crossings prompted Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to call the situation a “violation of Spain’s territorial integrity”, while blaming “immigration mafias” for organizing the movement.
