Continuing on with our standings projections for the 2026-27 season, we have the Columbus Blue Jackets at

Columbus is in a rough spot right now. Battled for a WC spot the past couple of seasons, and likely primed to do so on paper again this season... but a ton of uncertainty and bad vibes around this team at the moment, as arguably their two best players are uncertain to finish or even start the season on Columbus due to potential trades. And neither of them seem committed to Columbus, with Marchenko reportedly wanting out and Werenski not being willing to commit to a future contract at this time.
Columbus' offense is solid, but not good enough to withstand the drama surrounding the team. Fantilli I think will elevate his game this season. But Monahan/Coyle are both ideally good 3Cs for playoff teams, not a 2C. Nichushkin is a solid add but his injury troubles are worrisome. This top-nine in Columbus just seems to have a lot of "guys," not needle movers.
Defensively, Columbus ...
