On Wednesday, July 29th, the University of Connecticut (DI) men’s ice hockey program announced Sean Walsh as assistant coach, joining head coach Mike Cavanaugh’s staff. Walsh, a native of Bangor, ME, most recently served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Alaska Fairbanks (DI) where he worked with the penalty kill and forwards on top of video analysis. In his lone season with the Nanooks, they captured the Adirondack Tournament, Governor’s Cup (6-0-2 vs. UA Anchorage) and the United Collegiate Hockey Cup. Walsh’s ties to Division III come from his two stints as an assistant coach with the men’s programs at Bowdoin (2022-2025) and U. of New England (2021-2022). Other coaching stints have been serving as a volunteer and video coach at Maine (DI), where earned his bachelor’s degree.
