On Monday, July 27th, the College of St. Scholastica announced the hiring of Brenden Kotyk as new head coach for the men’s ice hockey program. Kotyk, a native of Regina,SK, CAN, is a former Saint where he played the 2012-2013 season before transferring to the University of Minnesota Duluth. He accumulated 14 goals & 28 assists for 42 points in 122 career games between DI & DIII. He was an alternate captain for UMD in his senior season where the Bulldogs won the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Frozen Faceoff title while also reaching the Division I National Championship. Professionally, Kotyk played three seasons where he dressed in 151 games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits & Toledo Walleye of the ECHL from 2017-2020. He’d help the Walleye reach the 2019 Kelly Cup Finals. Kotyk also appeared in 7 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) during the 2017-2018 season.
