Four months.
They’re rolling. Tracking. Cooing. Laughing — real laughs, the kind that come out of nowhere and undo you completely. Their first laughs gave me instant flashbacks to the other three. That specific sound. The way it hits you in a place nothing else reaches.
But here’s the thing about four months that I didn’t see coming: the mundane has started to feel natural.
Picking two babies up at the same time. Carrying two at once. Nursing two at once. Looking at my identical twins and knowing immediately — without hesitation — which one is which. None of that felt possible four months ago.
I’m proud of myself in a way I want to say out loud. Four months of keeping five kids alive. Two of them exclusively breastfed. All of it done the way I wanted to do it — the parenting, the feeding, the showing up — without compromising the things that matter to me.
That’s not nothing. That’s actually a lot.
