There’s a lot of content right now about breaking generational cycles. Healing from childhood. Parenting differently than you were raised. This isn’t that. My mom is a therapist and psychoanalyst who has spent her entire career studying early childhood, attachment, and the way we learn to understand ourselves. She raised me inside that knowledge. No yelling. No shame. She believed (still does) there are no such things as bad words — only words used to hurt. Feelings were named before I had language for them. Listening to my body and trusting my instincts was taught and encouraged. I didn’t have a perfect childhood. I had a healthy one. And the difference, I’ve come to understand, is that she knew the difference too. I’m not trying to parent differently than I was raised. I’m trying to replicate it. These nine things are where I’m starting. If you had a parent who got something really right — what was it? I want to hear it. ↓ Comment BOOK for a link to our coloring book with 2...
