Her heartfelt performance and memorable Tagalog scene with Jacob Batalon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Andrew Garfield quickly became a fan favorite while celebrating Filipino representation in the MCU.⁠ ⁠ In a statement to TMZ, Rivera’s family shared that she passed away peacefully on April 15 in Honolulu after suffering a stroke. They said doctors determined her condition was unlikely to improve, and the family made the difficult decision to remove her from life support. Rivera was later cremated.⁠ ⁠ Before making her unforgettable big screen debut, Rivera was a retired church missionary, teacher, and radio broadcaster.
