Reedley police have identified the suspect in a deadly hit-and-run that killed an elderly couple Tuesday and continue to search for him. Police identified the suspect as 48-year-old Omar Lopez Chavez, who they say struck and killed 75-year-old Luis Martinez Araujo and 78-year-old Maria Juarez Mendez, both of Reedley. According to police, the crash took place at 4:45 a.m. near Manning and Haney avenues. Investigators say the elderly couple was walking near the intersection when they were hit. They were taken to the hospital, where they both later died.
