Emancipation Day comes alive in Portland with cultural display The spirit of Emancipation was on full display in Port Antonio Square as Portland marked the occasion with a vibrant celebration of Jamaica's heritage. Saturday's observance featured the sounding of the Abeng by Andrew Osbourne of the Moore Town Maroons, an abbreviated Emancipation proclamation delivered by Custos Lincoln Thaxter, cultural performances by Miss Portland 1st Runner-up 2026 Tish-khani Thompson, the Port Antonio Theatre Group's presentation of the traditional Dinki Mini, and rhythmic performances by the Legendary Learning Centre drummers.
