Heavy winds turn a power pole fire into a second alarm fire involving multiple structures.
Fire crews were dispatched around 10:45 PM to the area of 8th St. and Southern Ave. for reports of a pole fire.
On arrival crews had multiple power poles on fire with heavy winds pushing the fire into structures and debris. A total of three structures were fully involved with fire as well as brush, trees, debris, and power poles.
Crews quickly pulled handlines to multiple areas and buildings to surround the fire and prevent further spread.
The call was balanced to a second alarm due to the size of the fire and how strong the winds were blowing.
All three structures were vacant so no one will be displaced. Because of the crews hard work, they were able to stop the fire despite strong winds.
