I think now may be the most interesting time to stay at The Ritz. With parts of the hotel closed for renovation, it is currently operating at a much more intimate scale. Fewer rooms, fewer guests, but still the full weight of Ritz-level service, staffing and attention to detail. It feels almost like a boutique hotel version of The Ritz, which is a combination you may never get again. The renovation is also creating access to parts of the hotel guests would not normally experience. While the Palm Court is being transformed, afternoon tea is moving into the beautiful rooms of William Kent House, spaces that are usually reserved for private events. So rather than seeing the renovation as a reason to wait, I see it as the opportunity. You get the history, ceremony and old-school glamour The Ritz is known for, but in a more discreet and intimate setting, while witnessing one of London’s most iconic hotels enter its next chapter.
