The president of Jordan’s FA, Prince Ali bin Hussein, accused FIFA and its president, Gianni Infantino, of blackmail in a lengthy statement posted on social media. Hussein criticized FIFA for failing to assist Jordan with several issues this past year, including acquiring visas for fans traveling to the World Cup and paying out prize money for December’s Arab Cup. According to Hussein, FIFA offered to help if, in return, Jordan endorsed Infantino's 2027 re-election bid. Several other Arab nations, including Qatar, have endorsed Infantino publicly. Hussein previously ran against Infantino for the position of FIFA president in 2016.
