#SharksonRED with Mogamat Shamier Magmoet (shamier_ocean) The first time I encountered a black shark, I knew I was witnessing a moment I would remember. They moved calmly through the water, circling slowly around me before suddenly picking up speed and bursting past as they chased a school of sardines. I had no idea the baitfish were suspended in the water behind me, and watching the behavior unfold so quickly was an incredible experience. Spending time in the water with sharks has completely changed the way I see them. Growing up, I was afraid of sharks, but the more I learned about them and observed their behavior, the more that fear turned into understanding and respect. I’ve learned that sharks have individual personalities. Some are shy, some are curious, and even the largest individuals can show incredible gentleness.
