Anthropic just made the smartest move in the AI race this year. It's called Claude Opus 5. At first, it looks like a bad product, nearly 25 minutes for a coding task GPT-5.6 finishes in under 8, and almost five times more expensive. Why build something slower and pricier? Because nobody cares if AI saves you 17 minutes, if you then spend two hours fixing its mistakes. Engineers tested both on the same challenge, building a fully functional 3D model from scratch. GPT got there first. Claude got there right, nearly 3,000 lines of code, accurate real-world dimensions, proper geometry instead of shortcuts, and mistakes the other model missed. The bet: future AI won't be judged by speed, but by how little you have to double-check its work. Faster AI, or one you can trust?
