SpaceX reported its first-ever quarterly earnings as a public company after Tuesday's closing bell delivering a blowout beat and the stock is still selling off Wednesday morning, down more than 11%.
Q2 results: Revenue came in at $7.81 billion, up 92% year over year and well ahead of the $6.93 billion analyst estimate. Loss per share was just 9 cents, beating the expected 24-cent loss by a wide margin.
On the earnings call, CEO Elon Musk made a bold case for Starlink's long-term potential: "People are really underestimating Starlink. This is a big deal." He said it is "not out of the question" that Starlink could eventually carry a majority of the world's internet traffic in markets where it is permitted to operate achievable in less than 10 years. President and COO Gwynne Shotwell said SpaceX's next-generation Starlink Mobile network could be 100 times better than the current service.
