The chief economist at the National Association of Realtors is projecting that the median U.S. home price could reach one million dollars within roughly 25 years, right around the time older millennials will be approaching retirement age. Lawrence Yun, speaking at a recent housing conference in Washington, D.C., reportedly said the typical American home could hit a seven-figure median by around 2050. To put that number in perspective, the national median home price was just 90,000 dollars in 1990 and currently sits around 400,000 dollars, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
